Clinic programs at ward level

ESTL with the support of The Foundation for Civil Society – FCS organized a clinic session with pregnant women and those who attend reproductive and child health (RCH) at Sokoine Health Centre in Sokoine, Singida municipality. The activity was conducted on 16, April 2023. ESTL promoted nutrition education and supplementation to address micronutrient deficiencies for pregnant women and young children, particularly in maternal prenatal nutrition and the child's nutrition in the first 1000 days. The clinic session includes raising awareness to protect the children from obesity, hypertension, and diabetes which are too risky at this period. Together with the aforementioned purposes, the activity was geared to provide FGM/VAWC education to those women to have the responsibility of protecting children from all stages of their growing from FGM and all forms of violence against them. FGM in Singida was performed on children under the age of 1-year-old through a belief that FGM cures lawalawa disease. The main reason for conducting clinic sessions with women and pregnant women was to know proper hygiene practices such as cleaning children to avoid other health confusion such as performing FGM practices on children.
